The Hello Goodbye campaign was developed with social media in mind. Abbott wanted to create a medium where sufferers of psoriasis (causing irritation and reddening of the skin) could come together, share their experiences and interact with each other. Patients could learn about the disease, find doctors in their area, and build their own avatar which chronicles their progress with psoriasis. The pitch consisted of a microsite, mobile device Apps for smart phones, and YouTube videos.
